Myne Circular Metals develops technologies that address one of the resource industry's most pressing challenges: the depletion of high-quality metals and the environmental cost of producing them. Our core technologies, the Xorter and MDX, convert chaotic metal waste streams into raw materials that match virgin metals in quality, at lower cost and without downcycling. We do this with ~75 people in Harderwijk, €400M in annual turnover, and close partnerships with universities and specialists. We are scaling fast, with ambitious technical developments still underway.
Role Description
At Myne, engineers are close to the work, and this role is no exception. As a Commissioning Engineer, you bring new technology and the plant around it from pilot into full production. Commissioning here does not end at handover: you stay with the installation and continue to optimize.
Commissioning: you install, start up, and validate each component until it meets its performance targets. This includes new, self-developed technology.
Optimization: you turn what goes wrong into permanent improvements, through settings, modifications, and hands-on changes you make yourself.
You work closely with the engineers who developed it. They know how it was designed to behave; you know how it actually behaves under load, with real material, in the hands of real operators. That exchange is where most improvements come from, and it runs both ways: their design changes land in your plant, and what you find on the floor shapes the next versions.
You are part of the Operations team in Harderwijk: the plant floor is where you spend your day, and how it performs day to day is yours.
Key Responsibilities
Own: Take responsibility for new systems and the plant around them, from first start-up through to full production
Commission: Install, start up, and validate new components until they hit their performance targets
Troubleshoot: Track down the cause when the system misbehaves, and work on a solution, whether it sits in the mechanics, the process, or the way it is being operated
Optimize: Turn findings into lasting improvements through settings, modifications, and hands-on changes you make yourself
Improve together: Work with other teams on design improvements, feeding real production data and failure modes back so we can continuously improve
Transfer: Write the procedures and train the operators so the plant also runs well without you
What You Bring
Experience: 0-3 years. You have a technical foundation in mechanical, industrial, or process engineering and preferably have already had your hands on real equipment. Whether that comes from a degree, an internship, a graduation project, or a workshop, what matters is that you can apply it in practice.
Hands-on: You would rather pick up a wrench and find out than wait for someone to explain. Comfortable around pumps, pipes, conveyors, and control panels.
Diagnostic mindset: When something does not work, you reason back to the cause instead of trying things at random. You keep track of what you changed and what it did.
Technical understanding: You grasp how material moves through a system and what shifts when you adjust it. Reading P&IDs and PFDs, or being keen to learn.
Ownership: You take charge of your systems, set your own priorities, and know when a problem is bigger than you and needs to be escalated.
People: You work well with operators and technicians, and just as easily with the engineers who designed the system.
On-site: Based in Harderwijk, working daily in an industrial environment where things are still being figured out, and that's exactly what makes it interesting.
Education: HBO in Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering, or equivalent experience.
