Development Engineer

Myne Circular Metals develops technologies that address one of the resource industry's most pressing challenges: the depletion of high-quality metals and the environmental cost of producing them. Our core technologies, the Xorter and MDX, convert chaotic metal waste streams into raw materials that match virgin metals in quality, at lower cost and without downcycling. We do this with ~75 people in Harderwijk, €400M in annual turnover, and close partnerships with universities and specialists. We are scaling fast, with ambitious technical developments still underway.

Role Description

At Myne, engineers are close to the work and this role is no exception. As a Development Engineer, you focus on understanding and improving how our plants work: running experiments, analyzing test, and turning findings into better process setups. Most of your time is spent in our chemical production and mechanical recycling plants, working hands-on with process equipment and pilot systems. You design and tweak setups yourself, and you are comfortable getting your hands dirty to get things right.

Key Responsibilities

• Own: Work independently and prioritize tasks based on project roadmaps

• Experiment: Design and execute trials, operate pilot systems, and analyze results to drive process improvements

• Optimize & Build: Translate findings into improved process designs and help build and tweak them yourself

• Collaborate: Work closely with plant operators, engineers, and external specialists

• Deliver: See projects through from initial hypothesis to validated, integrated solution

What You Bring

• Experience: You have experience working with chemical and/or mechanical production processes (pipes, pumps, multiphase fluid mechanics) and know how to improve them. Either from a formal degree or hands-on experience, what matters is that you can apply it in practice.

• Process knowledge: You understand how materials behave in a system and how to optimize it (P&IDs, PFDs). Familiarity with recycling or industrial production is a plus.

• Analytical mindset: You perform tests, spot patterns, and translate findings into concrete improvements in production.

• Hands-on: Comfortable working with process equipment, running trials, and troubleshooting in a pilot environment. CAD experience is a plus.

• Self-directed: You manage your own workload, set priorities, and follow through without needing constant direction.

• On-site: Working daily in an industrial (pilot) environment; things are still being figured out, and that's exactly what makes it interesting.

• Education: HBO/WO in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Communication: Professional written and verbal communication skills in English, Dutch is a plus.
